Log Home

The design of log homes involves a number of related criteria. Of primary concern is the settling of new construction and the dimensional changes due to temperature and weather conditions.

This home is designed with no structural combinations in the main building. There is no combination of stick and log construction. The entire home is log including the interior walls and support. Everything then moves together during the settling period and variations in temperature/humidity.

This also adds a pleasing aspect to the interior image (logs everywhere).

An immense amount of hand work is required in all log construction, but that is what it's all about!!

I am handling this listing and also the 31 acre lot nearby.

This is Henry, he's kinda a showoff!!

They hide on the property since they know that I am no threat.

I have actually had them standing 50' from me watching the road hunters 200 yards away.

This is truly a wilderness.

I-15

I keep the road open in order to maintain my access to the cabin. Kinda looks like   I-15 don't yah think??

This is 3+ blade widths of the plow.

Even though I'm as old as dirt, you can't beat sledding for up to 1/2 mile the day after I plow. Walking back takes a little longer than the ride.

 

Land

This is the primo lot in this section due to the fact that it is bordered on two sides with the BLM (4000' border). Nothing private south and west for miles and miles. This unit has approximately 800' of looped driveway across the creek and around to the cabin site.

The lot line is to the right of the dead tree in the foreground to the left edge of the picture and to the top of the mountain in the rear.

These properties are handled by me, 702 275 3017.

The seasonal creek is a favorite of the grandkids.....

There's just enough water for the kids to get totally wet and muddy.










The guestimated cabin site is adjacent to a new, unused and permitted septic system that I had installed a few years ago.

Winter

Winter every year in the mountains! This is a nice time of year for playing in the sun and cooking all day meals. I really enjoy the snow. Quiet days and the PLOW.

The corn binder can do some work with the 92" blade. Remember that there is about 1300 feet of looped driveway to the house.

This is about 200' of one loop through the trees adjacent to the creek. Normally, two cuts with the blade accomplishes this.

The canyon shows its colors nicely in the winter.

Three important accessories come with this retreat, the plow for snow work, the boat for the fish, and the solar array for no cost, everyday power.



Good Morning America

The master suite is the loft. This is roughly 500+ sq. ft. and glass on both ends. Imagine waking in the A.M. (any season) and you are truly in the mountains.

 

The goal here was to always be in the mountains. The south orientation provides solar heat input in the winter while the interior of the cabin is in full shade during the warm summer months.

 

Up for coffee in the morning?? The views are always there.

 

 

 

 

One is always in the mountains for breakfast. A retreat..........you bet!!



Red Creek Canyon

About 25 years ago, I was referred to this area of Southern Utah for the fishing in Red Creek Reservoir. I parked my trailer down below in the little town and fished the lake on the weekends. Only 190 miles from Las Vegas and plenty of trout.

After a couple of years, I learned the details on the properties in the canyon on the way to the lake. Long story short, I purchased one of the parcels to park the trailer on.

This was the nicest retreat I could of imagined, and decided to build a cabin on the property.

Twelve years later, I was pretty well done with the cabin (you are never really done) and spend about 1/3 of my time here all year round.

It has evolved into a lot more than I anticipated and is very nice.
Click on the picture for full screen. What you see is approximately 20% of the property (27 acres). A very quiet, secluded retreat.

The lake is a Utah Wild Fishery and is self spawning. Very nice fish.

It has become time for other activities and the retreat is now for sale. I have also acquired two other properties of the 16 with water (one @27 acres and another at 31 acres) and they will sell also.

During the next month or two I will present the aspects of the property and the area on the blog for those that might be interested.
