Following the fire/flood ash damage to the reservoir last summer, almost all of the Rainbow Trout in the lake were killed. A few of the spawners survived but not many. A self spawning lake such as this would recover but it would take years.
The Utah Fish and Game stocked 13,000 7" Tiger Trout fingerlings in the cleaner lake in November prior to ice over.
The Tigers are an aggressive species that are known for nicely fighting anglers (an excellent game fish).The fish have done very well from 7" to 13" in seven months.
Being a sterile breed, they will grow while the Rainbows move to recovery.

I fished the lake in mid July, fishing was excellent and the Tigers have adapted well and are surface feeding constantly.
The meat is very pink when skinned and has a very mild flavor.
It doesn't get any better than this!
